Inside the house

  1. Thermostat calibration and tightness to the wall
  2. Filter for proper size and cleanliness
  3. Fan relay
    by     cycling thermostat fan switch

On the equipment

  1. Duct elbow seal for leaks
  2. Condensate pan and drain pipe cleanliness
  3. Condition of electrical conduit
  4. Electrical disconnect block, block contacts and fuses
  5. Bearing play in both inside and outside motors (add lubricating oil when necessary)
  6. Blower wheel for cleanliness
  7. Condition of blower belt and adjust tension (where applicable)
  8. Evaporative coils for cleanliness (if possible)
  9. Outside coils for cleanliness and restriction
  10. Electrical connections for tightness
  11. Contactor for excessive wear on the contact points
  12. Freon piping for compressor oil or potential leaks
  13. Access valves and cap seals for tightness
  14. Barometric damper for proper operation (if evaporative cooler installed)

While the equipment is running

  1. Compressor for proper starting
  2. Relay coil noise
  3. Blower and propeller for proper rotation
  4. Equipment noise or excessive vibration
  5. Freon level and temperature
  6. Air temperature drop
  7. Equipment voltage
  8. Amperage draw on all motors

Heating

  1. Reversing valve by cycling on and off
  2. Check-valve by cycling on and off
  3. Defrost controller operation
  4. Compressor crankcase heater
  5. Air temperature rise
